According to texts on left side of the gatefole, the following recording locations were used:
– A1 to A2 recorded in performance at the Five Spot, New York City, 16 July 1961.
– Sides B to C and D1 recorded in performance at Copenhagen, Denmark. B1, C2 and D1 at the Berlingske Has on 6 September 1961; others at Studenterforeningen on 8 September 1961.
– D2 recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack New Jersey, 1 April 1960.

Actual recording locations:
– “Berlingske Has” is a typo for “Berlingske Hus
– Rudy Van Gelder moved his recording studio to from Hackensack to Engelwood Cliffs in mid 1959. The recording of D2 was made at the new location.
